Use the original image when possible. Compare ELA, metadata and visual observations with a known source, retaining an untouched copy for further examination.
Interpret the evidence
JPEG recompression, sharpening and texture can produce bright ELA areas. Missing metadata can be normal. Neither observation proves a forgery; document the unresolved cause and seek independent evidence.
